Frequently Asked Question

Q.  What is the difference between the club, training, and Select Soccer Series (S3)?
A.  Club - The Club was formed to provide players a stepping stone to collegiate soccer on the principle that athletic achievement, success, team membership, and genuine sportsmanship in highly competitive environments is exceedingly important for boys, girls and young adults.

Training - Our training program is established to provide the best quality youth soccer training services in the Central New Jersey area. Our aim and underlying motive is to enrich youth soccer players’ experience of the beautiful game by teaching the technical, tactical, physical and psychological pillars of quality soccer; and ultimately instilling or enhancing a desire and passion for the game that will enable the soccer players of tomorrow actualize their potential.  Jersey United offers reputable trainers committed to high quality training and player development. Our trainers offer the most diverse, extensive and up-to-date soccer training available and constantly seek new teaching methods to help players of all ages and abilities.  Our coaches have a unique style of teaching that focuses on technical development, intelligence and team play while promoting sportsmanship and passion for the game.  Our training services aim to cover all the areas, which we believe can and will effectively promote player/team development.

Select Soccer Series (S3) - Jersey United is proud to announce the next chapter in player development with the merger of two of our most successful training programs, Summer Select and the Center of Excellence. The Jersey United Select Soccer Series or S3 program is a new and exciting training program that stands alone when it comes to soccer development. The tryout based S3 program is designed to allow excelling boys and girls ages 7-12 the opportunity to supplement their training and take both their technical and tactical game to the next level.

S3 caters to players who wish to train in a competitive environment in a bid to further their game knowledge and learn essential advanced soccer techniques from Jersey United’s renowned coaches. Players participating in S3 work from a progressive age specific curriculum that breaks down the essential techniques needed to succeed at the elite level.  Players are taught to play a fast paced, attack minded game and are encouraged to demonstrate flair, composure, individuality and perform in multiple field positions.

S3 players train once weekly during the spring and/or fall for 8 weeks working from an elite level technical curriculum that targets player’s individual skills with and without the ball. Players then compete in either 3 summer or winter tournaments where they work from a team based curriculum focusing on small group tactics and game play. One stand out feature of the S3 program is our unique player evaluation and feedback; coaches evaluate players twice during the program and give qualitative feedback on performance to help players with self training ideas and areas to improve on.

For the younger player, Jersey United has created S3 Juniors which is the development section of the program that allows 7 and 8 year olds the opportunity to supplement their skills training with a view to become a part of the a future S3 program. Jersey United is one of the few training organizations that understands and is sensitive to the importance of quality technical training versus competition at this tender age of development.  S3 Junior’s players only participate in the 8 week spring and/or fall training section of the S3 in a co-ed group working on essential technical skill in a small 1:12 coach to player group.

S3 is completely supplementary and players are in no way encouraged to leave their regular team to join Jersey United. It is not the intention of the S3 to create year-round teams; S3 is an elite level training program that prepares players for the next level of development and future competition with the current team.
