What is S3?
The S3 program is a direct merger of our two most successful supplementary programs, The Center of Excellence and Summer Select. The S3 program is designed to allow players aged 7-14 the opportunity to train during the spring/fall in an 8 week, low player to coach technical environment then enhances their game skills during a 3 tournament summer/winter program. The S3 program is an ideal opportunity for aspiring players to train and compete at the highest level with new teammates and receive elite level technical/tactical training from Jersey United’s staff.
Who is S3 for?
Players aged 7-14 years old who wish to supplement their current training in a professional, elite level environment. The training options allow you to customize your program and maximize your development.
Does S3 replace my current team?
The S3 program is designed to supplement your current travel/club team commitments and not replace them. We recognize that your current team is your main priority and although we try to avoid them, during conflicts we strongly encourage participating players to put their regular team 1st.
How are players carded?
Jersey United will card successful players using US club soccer passes that will only be used for the summer tournament period during the winter players will be carded using temporary indoor passes when needed.
Is there a tryout for this program?
The S3 is an elite level train program and to ensure a high level of participation ALL players must attend the tryouts listed for the team they wish to join. On occasion a player may tryout at an alternate location should they not be ale to make their programs dates. Register for free tryouts, .
When and where are the tryouts for 2010?
Reminders: All S3 tryouts have been moved to Morristown Beard HS for the remaining dates.
ALL S3 teams will be trained and game day coached by Jersey United’s nationally and internationally qualified staff. Jersey United has a proud tradition employing the state finest soccer educators who have extensive coaching knowledge and who have played at either the College or professional level. All Jersey United’s staff are under the guidance of the clubs Director of Coaching, Dennis Jackson.
What will my child be learning during the program?
Players enrolled in the S3 program will continue to learn the game the Jersey United way. Teams will be instructed to play an attractive, attacking style of players and players will be encouraged to bring their own passion and flair to the game. During the yearly curriculum Jersey United’s coaches will focus on the following:
Spring/Fall 8 week training focuses on individual techniques and advanced ball mastery
Summer training focuses on small group tactics and technical/tactical aspects of the game dependent on age and/or ability.
Winter futsal focuses on advanced individual flair and ball mastery in a small group setting
Winter indoor training focuses on technical/tactical decisions in a fast paced small sided environment
When do S3 teams train?
In an attempt to avoid conflicts with your regular team the S3 program will practice during the spring and fall on either a Monday or Friday Evening at a time TBD (A locations training night will be set prior to tryouts). During the summer S3 team will have two weekly practices in the evening and participate in 3 weekend tournament, teams may also play in optional scrimmage fests set by the Jersey United Director of Coaching.
What if I can’t make the spring and/or fall training?
Players are encouraged to attend all events but due to conflicts, injury etc..the S3 curriculum is uniquely designed to allow players to catch up on missed information during later weeks. A player missing 2 spring sessions will obviously miss out on the opportunity to practice and repeat techniques learned but will be adequately brought up to speed so they can perform those techniques during later practices and tournaments.
What tournaments do S3 teams participate in?
All S3 teams play in 3 summer tournaments. These tournaments are chosen from the following:
Hershey Invitational, Hershey, PA
Hackettstown Blast, Hackettstown, NJ
Pocono Cup, East Stroudsburg, PA
Rider Cup, Fort Dix & Rider, NJ
Central Jersey Invitational, Fort Dix, NJ
Hudson Invitational, Poughkeepsie, NY
Lititz Summer Showcase, Lititz, PA
During the winter S3 teams will participate in 3 NJ Futsal tournaments determined by the Director of Coaching.
Where do the S3 teams train?
This depends on the location you choose to tryout for. In 2010 the S3 will utilize our new state of the art facility, Falcon Field in Hillsborough, NJ as well as Morristown Beard HS, Morristown, NJ. We will also be running a program in Mercer County at a location TBD. Teams will train at the same location as their tryout for the entire program.
What age groups does S3 field teams?
The S3 will run tryouts at ALL locations for both boys and girls teams. The following age group teams will be available:
U9 – (Born Between Aug 2000 and July 2001)
U10 - (Born Between Aug 1999 and July 2000)
U11 - (Born Between Aug 1998 and July 1999)
U12 - (Born Between Aug 1997 and July 1998)
U14 - (Born Between Aug 1995 and July 1996)
How does S3 cater for 7 and 8 year old players?
For the younger player, Jersey United has created S3 Juniors which is the development section of the program that allows 7 and 8 year olds the opportunity to supplement their skills training with a view to become a part of the a future S3 program. Jersey United is one of the few training organizations that understands and is sensitive to the importance of quality technical training versus competition at this tender age of development. S3 Junior’s players only participate in the 8 week spring and/or fall training section of the S3 in a co-ed group working on essential technical skill in a small 1:12 coach to player group.
Can my child play up an age?
All players are required to tryout at their correct age bracket but on occasion player may be contacted to play up an age bracket or guest during an event. These decisions will be based on ability and will be decided by the Director of Coaching.
Can I just do the summer tournaments?
Allthough not encouraged, when spaces are available a player can register for just the summer section of the S3 program. Player decisions and team placement will be made by the Director of Coaching.
Do you have to play in tournaments?
Players are encouraged to participate in tournaments to enhance their S3 experience and develop their tactical game, however, it is also possible for players to just train throughout the summer and not play in tournaments. These opportunities will be on a case by case basis and decided by the Director of Coaching.
Do participating players receive a uniform?
ALL players are required to purchase a uniform for the program and are required to wear them to S3 events. Depending on the training option you choose not all uniform is necessary but can be purchased optionally. Below is a matrix of what a player is required to purchase based on their program:

How much does the program cost?
The S3’s cost differs depending on the training option you choose. Players participating in the yearly option receive the best discounted price but all prices are based on the best value for money in NJ. Below is the cost of S3 for 2010 season:

Spring Training Only - $175.00 + uniform
Summer Training Only - $225.00 + uniform
Summer Full Program Only - $449.00 + uniform
Spring and Summer Full Program - $549.00 + uniform (paid in installments) (includes three outdoor tournaments)
Fall/Winter 2010 S3 Program
Fall Training Only - $175.00 + uniform
Winter Training Only - $300.00 + uniform
Fall and Winter Full Program - $599.00 + uniform (paid in installments) (includes three indoor tournaments)
Full Year S3 Program
Full Year 2010/2011 - $895.00 + uniforms (paid in installments) (includes three outdoor and three indoor tournaments)
Do the fees include the training?
The fees includes ALL training performed by Jersey United’s staff and game day coaching at tournaments
What are the extra costs?
All fees are included in the cost of the program with the exception of uniform fees and family expenses i.e: Gas, Hotels, food etc…Players can also purchase additional Under Armour uniform for an extra cost.
Can I pay in installments?
For your convenience, some S3 training options are payable by installments. Upon acceptance of a place you will given your payment plan for the program.
