Positions and Work Schedule
1.  What is the work schedule?
Jersey United instructs youth player.  Soccer instruction is a part of the recreation industry.  Therefore, our activities are conducted when these players are available for activities.  By offering a number of different services to the market our aim is to maximize instructional hours.  During the spring and fall, children are in school typically from 8am-3pm.  Soccer activities are conducted as part of after school activities and on weekends.  During the summer when school is out of session, Jersey United is able to conduct camps and other activities during the day.  Jersey United also run camp programs and training during the winter months outside of the typical fall/spring seasons.
Typically coaches work 35-45 hours per week.  This is a combination of actual training sessions and office or facility assignments.  Upon arrival in the US, you will receive training and orientation to help adjust to the new environment and job requirements.

Summer Months:
The summer months focus on camps and summer select programs. 
Camps programs are conducted throughout the summer at different locations throughout the surrounding areas.
Jersey United Summer Select Teams run from June - August and typical train 2x per week and participate in high level tournaments on the weekends throughout NJ or surrounding states.

The middle to end of August coaches will most likely work a camp during the day and a team camp during the evening.
 Winter Months:
Jersey United offers training throughout the winter months in their facility, the Edge Sports Center, along with the largest off season training program in NJ, Get the Edge.  Typically, coaches are given a very limited schedule in the month of December and before picking up a schedule in the later months of the winter (January-March).
2.  What is the vacation period?
Full time staff is given 12 paid vacation days.  Vacation days are granted at the discretion of the upper management and are typically granted during slower times of the year. 
3.  What is covered in the orientation?
The orientation will give coaches an understanding of the youth soccer market in NJ, the overall operation of the company, introduction to all staff members, roles and responsibilities on and off the field, and the services offered.
4. What staff activities do you offer?
Jersey United Coaches typically compete in a 7v7 league during the winter months. Jersey United also offers various other staff events throughout the year including dinners and company trips.
 
Recruitment and Selection
1.     What Qualifications are required for the Position?
 
·         Significant coaching and playing experience
·         Currently hold or obtain their FA coaching certificate (minimum requirement UEFA B part 1 or First 4 sport level 2) by time of October 2008 or US equivalent (NSCAA National diploma, US ‘C’ license), or FIFA member foreign coaching license equivalent.
·         Hold a full driving license as well as driving experience.
·         Clean Criminal background (applications assessed on a case by case basis).
·         A Passport valid for at least six months beyond the holder’s period of stay in the US, with at least one blank page.
·         Minimum of one years coaching experience with a team or organization (3 Year visa applicants must have a degree from a College or University in a related field).
 
2.      What information is required to begin the employment process?

3.     How are candidates selected?
Jersey United will select candidates based upon:
·         Interview
·         Previous Coaching Experience

·         Professionalism displayed during the application and recruitment process
·         Timelines of requested information
 
4.       What is the recruitment process
·         Complete Application Process
·         Submit required faxed documentation to Jersey United to confirm visa qualification
·         Response via email from Jersey United confirming receipt of documentation
·         References check by Jersey United
·         Scheduled interview in UK July/August 2008. Exact date, time and location TBD.
·         Successful applicants receive Employment Offer and contract the Jersey United
·         Signed Contract returned to Jersey United by September 30th 2008
·         Visa processed
 
5.       What is the structure of the interview
 
Interviews for 2009 positions will be held in the UK during July/August 2008. Exact location, date and time will be provided to you in advance. The interview will be at a pre-determined location and will be conducted as follows:
 
·         Company Seminar, position, and life in the US
·         1 on 1 interview
·         Assignment of a coaching topic and prepared written session plan
 
The entire interview process takes approximately 1 hour. After the interview, you will know everything about the position with Jersey United and the personal interview will determine if you are the right person for the position.
 
6.       What should I bring to the interview?
Clear copies of the following documents:
·         Copy of passport
·         Copy of any prior US work visas
·         Copy of coaching licenses
·         Letter of an official organization letterhead from a soccer school, club, youth organization, or soccer employer indicating you have performed at least one year of coaching with youth players in their organization
·         Copy of higher education certificates such as degrees, HND’s or BTEC’s
·         Copy of UK Driving License
 
Visa Process
1.       What type of work visa will I be issued
 
The visa you are issued depends upon the position you are seeking and employment period:
·         36 month position: H1-B Visa or P1 Visa; Candidate must have a degree from University relating to the position at Jersey United
·         10 month position: H2-B Visa; Coaching assignments and Coaches Education
·         5 month position: H2-B Visa; coaching assignments and Coaches Education
As the majority of positions available are seasonal; for a 10 month or a 5 month period the visa information listed in this section pertains to the H2-B visa only. Applicants seeking a 36 month visa should contact Jersey United via email for additional immigration requirements.
H2-B Visa
This is a temporary work visa based up on Immigration and Naturalization Service recognizing that Jersey United requires a large number of soccer coaches during a seasonal period of the year. This visa allows you to be employed exclusively by Jersey United during the period.
2.       When does the position commence?
Assuming no visa delays selected coaches are expected to arrive February 1st/April 1st and departure date is November 30th.
3.       Can the visa be renewed?
 
The visa can be renewed annually. Returning staff typically arrive February 1 to implement the Get the Edge program and to administer the logistics of the spring and summer season.
 
4.       When does this visa process start?
Period of Employment = February 1st – November 30th
Visa Processing Filing = October 1st
In January we typically receive authorization to begin the actual applicant H2-B visa petitions. At this time we submit to Immigration and Naturalization Service a copy of your requirements and each individual applicant’s documents and approve a visa petition for our company with your name on it.
The H2-B petition takes between 30-90 days. Jersey United typically elects to pay a premium to expedite the petition and receive the approval in 10 days. Therefore, to meet these deadlines it is important that you submit requested paperwork to our office in a timely manner to ensure we meet our deadlines.
5.       Do I have to complete any paperwork in my home country?
Immigration in the US will process and approve the visa petition for Jersey United. However, the actual visa stamped in your passport authorizing you to work in the USA must be issued from the US Embassy, preferably in the country you are living.
 
You need to complete a US Department of State DS-157 form and present this in person with your passport at the Embassy with a copy of the Jersey United US visa petition approval. Forms can be downloaded from www.travel.state.gov.
 
6.       Do I have to book an appointment to visit the US embassy in my home country?
 
You will need to contact the US Embassy in your country regarding visa-processing regulations for an H2-B. Typically, the Embassy will require you to book an appointment. You will require a petition number to make an appointment. We will give you the petition number once we submit the application in the US.
 
7.       Does the embassy give me my HS-B visa and Passport the day of my appointment
 
No, typically, it takes 5-10 days to process the visa. The Embassy typically couriers your completed passport back to your home address so you only need to visit the Embassy once.
 
8.        Who pays for the visa?
 
Jersey United pays for the US visa petition application and legal fees. You are required to pay a fee to the US embassy in your country for your visa stamp in your passport. The fee is around $120.
 
9.        Is there any other legal paperwork I need to complete upon arrival?
 
Upon arrival we will have you complete and application for a social security number. You will take this application with your visa stamp and a letter from our company to the social security office. They will issue you a social security ID number in 10-20 days enabling you to be paid by our payroll service. It is illegal for us to pay you until this number is approved. Once you have a social security number you can open a bank account.
 
 
Flight Information and Transportation

1.        When should I book my flight?
 
Coaching staff should book their roundtrip flights upon receipt of the H2B Visa from the US Embassy.
 
2.        To which US airport should I fly?
 
You need to fly to Newark Liberty in New Jersey.
 
3.        Is the flight reimbursed?
 
Full reimbursement is made by Jersey United at the end of the Visa.
 
4.        Who keeps the ticket?
Upon arrival you must hand in the airline ticket to Jersey United for arrival reimbursement. It will be reissued to upon departure.
 
5.        Who picks me up at Newark Airport?
 
We will arrange to have our staff pick you up at the airport and take you to your accommodations. The airport is approximately 30 minutes from our offices. If you fly to any other airport you will be responsible for your own transportation to and from that airport to our offices.
 
6.        What do I need to drive in the United States?
 
You must have a driver’s license in your country of residence. You will need to obtain an International Driver’s Permit and forward a copy of it before your interview. This can easily be obtained from the AA or post office in most counties and will enable you to drive in the US for the duration of your stay. You will be allowed to drive on an International License. Before you arrive in the US you will need to study the NJ driving laws. 
 
7.        How will I commute to and from the office and coaching sessions?
 
Jersey United operates a fleet of vehicles. The majority of camps and training sessions are located at client locations typically less than 30 minutes from the office or housing.
 
8.        Can I utilize these cars for personal use?
 
The cars primary and priority function is to transport coaches to and from coaching sessions. The cars can be utilized for personal use. The cars can’t be taken out of state. Drinking and driving is strictly forbidden.
 
9.        Are the cars insured?
 
The cars are insured for events as authorized above. If you have an accident which is your fault, you are responsible for the first $500, which is the insurance deductible. Our policy will cover accident damages in excess to this amount, unless you are under the influence of alcohol.
 
10.    Who pays for gas?
 
Jersey United pays for 50% of gas receipts.
 
11.    When are the cars serviced? 
 
The cars are serviced every 3,000-5,000 miles or unless there is a problem with the vehicle. You should report any mechanical problems immediately.
 
 
Housing
 
1.        Where will I be housed?
 
Jersey United will provide housing. The housing is located in Hunterdon/Somerset/Morris Counties.
2.        Who will I share the house or apartment with?
 
You will share the house with fellow UK coaches and/or some of our permanent full-time staff.
 
3.        What will I have to provide for the house?
 
Jersey United will furnish the house. You will need to bring or purchase in the US bed linens, pillows, towels and hangers.
 
4.        What housing bills do I have to pay?
 
Jersey United will pay the housing rent to the landlord. Housing is expensive in New Jersey and Jersey United will require that utilities are covered by the tenants.
 
5.        What about upkeep of the house?
 
You will also be responsible for the minor upkeep of the house. You will be required to treat the house with respect (clean and organized).
 
6.        What about any damages?
 
You will be responsible for leaving the property in its original condition, including paint and carpet condition. You will be informed and held responsible for payment of any damages.

2.       How much is the monthly base salary?
 
The compensation package is discussed individually but it is typically based upon the experience of the candidate, position accepting within the company and length of service with our company.
 
3.        How will I be paid?
Jersey United utilizes a payroll company to process payments to employees. Staff members are paid via check or can have the salary paid directly into their bank account.
 
4.        When will I be paid?
 
Payroll occurs bi-monthly on the 16th and first day of each month.
 
5.        What is the payroll cycle?
 
You are paid on a bi-monthly cycle. The work for the first 15 days of the month is paid on the 16th and the work for the second half of the month is paid on the 1st of the next month.
 
 
Additional Information
 
1.        What equipment will I need to provide for work?
 
All you need to bring is a pair of boots and a pair of indoor shoes. Jersey United will provide:
 
·         Under Armour Warm up jacket and pants
·         4 Under Armour Training Shirts
·         Under Armour ¾ zip top
·         4 Training Shorts
·         1 Under Armour Polo Shirt
 
2.        What is the climate during the year?
December through February is cold. March temperatures will be slightly warmer and by mid April, the temperatures will be in the high 60’s and will increase in to the 80’s and higher in July and August. September and October are highs between 60 and 80. November still is comfortable and becomes colder towards the end in to December.
3.        Will I have health and medical insurance?
The US does not provide a national health system. You are responsible for acquiring your own insurance coverage. We recommend that you obtain and emergency medical policy from your home country. They are usually available from travel agencies and are inexpensive. You will be covered by workers compensation for any work related injuries and you are covered for injuries resulting from accidents in company vehicles. 
4.        What should I do now?
