Jersey United and Princeton Soccer Association Announce Partnership Princeton NJ, August 1, 2008 -- Jersey United LLC and Princeton Soccer Association have announced a strategic partnership that will be implemented immediately to further assist its players in their pursuit of soccer excellence. The program will enhance club coaching, training, and make available even more and cutting edge programs.
The overall goal of the partnership is to provide a multitude of groundbreaking and cutting edge program offerings intent on enhancing and fortifying all facets of the PSA program. This initiative will serve as the basis for building an organization whose paramount philosophy is to provide quality, consistency, and programming that is in alignment with the current leading soccer educators of our times.
“Princeton Soccer Association endeavors to be at the forefront of providing development and playing opportunities for all of our members. Our staff is knowledgeable and is on the leading edge of youth soccer education and programming. Our partnership with Jersey United will allow us to continue our evolution as a full service club where all of our children are coached and trained by a ‘team’ of highly qualified and experienced professional coaches under a structure of well thought out developmental guidelines,” said PSA President Cheryl Golestani.
Jersey United will offer supplementary programs to all PSA members including Get the Edge, Summer Select, and Camps. Additional announcements will be forthcoming.
“Since our inception in 2004 we have enhanced and honed our programs a great deal. I am confident that offering these supplementary programs to PSA members will not only enhance the PSA program, but will offer development opportunities to players that want to pursue the game at a higher level,” said Martin Brown, Jersey United President and CEO.
“There has been a major evolution in youth soccer over the past few years with the addition of so many development opportunities for players, many parents and coaches are unsure of which is the best route for players to take. Our partnership will allow us to guide PSA players through the growing world of youth soccer and create development environments for all members,” said Lee Pollard, Jersey United Director of Coaching.
Jersey United will administer the partnership through the Jersey United Director of Coaching, Lee Pollard. Pollard will work closely with Princeton Soccer Association Technical Director, Christian Sanje. Prior to joining PSA, Christian coached for the New York Red Bulls, Match Fit Academy, Manalapan Soccer Club, and Piscataway Soccer Club where his teams earned prestigious tournament and league championships. Christian currently holds a United States Soccer Federation National "D" Coaching License and an NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma.
“I believe that this partnership will allow for PSA to provide even more consistency and balance to our wealth of cutting edge programs here at Princeton. I take great pride in being this club’s Technical Director and feel very strongly that our programs and our vision for the future is at the forefront of youth soccer in NJ,” said Sanje.
Jersey United will also offer those PSA players (U15-U18) with aspirations of pursuing the game in college, the opportunity to be a part of the Jersey United College Showcase Club. Players will participate in a more serious, premier level environment that will allow for maximum exposure to college coaches through tournaments, high level league play, and State Cup. Jersey United will also help players create player profile booklets, develop a list of target colleges, assist with making contact with coaches, and guide parents and players through the entire college recruitment process.
“We have coaches who have been through the process themselves as players, many of which have gone on and had roles as college coaches. We are very familiar with the entire process and what college coaches are looking for,” said Pollard.
Lee brings to PSA an extensive background in coaching and in coaching education. He is the former Director of Coaching of New York Red Bulls Regional Development School and is currently a staff member of the National Soccer Coaches Association and is qualified to teach Youth, State, Regional and Advanced Regional Coaching Diplomas. Lee holds a FA Coaching Certificate (Level 2), USSF ‘B’ License, NSCAA Premier Diploma, and a Futebol De Salou Coaching Certificate (Brazilian Soccer Schools).
The partnership will be monitored by a governing board of executives from Jersey United and PSA. Members include Jersey United President and CEO Martin Brown, Jersey United Co-President and Chief Technical Officer Dennis Jackson, PSA President Cheryl Golestani, and PSA Executive Director Mike Poller.
“Our professional staff will have a chance to closely monitor the progress of players, teams, and the club as the programs are implemented. These are very exciting times for PSA and all those involved,” said Executive Director of PSA Mike Poller.
