About Glan
Glan Letheren is a former International goalkeeper and has represented Wales at all levels. Glan made his debut at the age of 18 for Leeds United in the UEFA Cup. The final score was 0-0 after extra time with Glan claiming his first clean sheet. Glan was also included in the Leeds United squad in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich. During his time at Leeds Glan was loaned out to Chelsea and Nott’s County Football Clubs, and later signed for Chesterfield and Swansea City Football Club.
Glan retired at the age of 38 and diversed into coaching. Glan is one of the most highly respected qualified coaches in world football holding the prestigious UEFA professional license and UEFA goalkeeping A license. Glan’s accomplishments have allowed him to coach all over the world including Australia, Haiti, St Kitts and Nevis and St Vincent. Whilst in Australia Glan coached and identified a young 15 year old goalkeeper from Tasmania by the name of Alex Cissack. This resulted in Alex having a trial at Championship team Leicester City where he is currently serving a three year professional contract. Alex has recently been called upon for the Australian National Team.
Glan has a wealth of coaching experience and knowledge, working with Swansea City, Exeter City and Leicester City as first team goalkeeping coach. Glan’s has consolidated his knowledge, skills and expertise in football by working as chief scout in Wales for renowned football clubs like Manchester United and Leeds United. Glan has also worked with International goalkeepers including Ian Walker of Tottenham, Leicester and England; Kevin Pressman of Sheffield Wednesday and England; Roger Freestone of Swansea and Wales; Kevin Miller of Crystal Palace and Southampton. Most recently Glan has helped to develop Wayne Hennessey of Wolverhampton and Wales; Owen Fon Williams of Stockport a Wales under 21s International; Glan’s son Kyle Letheren of Barnsley and Wales under 21s International ; Alex Cissack of Leicester City and Australia under 19s; David Cornnel of Swansea and Wales under 17s; Rhys Taylor of Chelsea and Wales whom he coached for 4 years from the age of ten to fourteen.
