The Girls teams took to Long Island and the NEWSS Showcase evetn this past weekend, we had a great showing from the teams and Director of Coaching, Dennis Jackson said "this has been a premier event on our schedules for the girls for a few years and we are just so proud of the teams and the coaches for their performances in front of a large number of college coaches. Every evetn we do for our older teams is bsed around college coach exposure and the NEWSS event always provides a great number and it gives our players the chance to showcase themselves, which I believe we did well this weekend."
Jersey United Spartans 94/95G WHITE continued their great showcasing efforts this past weekend against strong opposition at the prestigious NEWSS tournament. The girls finished the tournament undefeated and did so without conceding a single goal, the team shut out highly ranked opposition from CT, NYE and the number 2 team from RI. Coach Pollard said "Myself and the girls are a little disappointed to not make the final as that was our goal but we played some great soccer over the weekend and showcased brilliantly. We spoke about our defending after the Hazlet tournament and to come away with 3 shutouts is a great improvement by the team"
It was very pleasing to see the effort and commitment this past weekend from the Spartans 93/94G Blue. They have added a number of new players to the group over the last couple of weeks. Some of the girls had not even met before our game on Saturday and were having to introduce themselves an hour or so before they took the field. If you take this into consideration we really couldn't ask for any more over the three games. Coach Morris added, "If the team can put in as much effort as they did this weekend then I have every confidence our team will go on to enjoy a successful season together. The team we tied on Sunday went on to make the final so it shows that we weren't that far away and with more time spent together we can look forward to exciting times ahead."
Congratualtions to all the teams at NEWSS this weekend. Go Spartans!!
